DEEPCASTER FORTRESS ASSETS LETTER

- - Gold, Silver, Crude Oil and Equities - -

The primary catalyst, but hardly the only cause, for recent increased markets volatility and deterioration is the Sub-Prime Market Meltdown.

The Ripple Effects of the sub-prime meltdown, forecast by Deepcaster and others, are far from over.  But savvy forecasters, investors, and traders (not necessarily mutually exclusive) can profit from concomitant moves in the Gold, Silver, Equities and Crude Oil markets.

To determine what market positions are actually likely to be profitable requires recalling who the major “players” are in the Titanic Market Battles now unfolding, and evaluating their goals, strengths and weaknesses.

Deepcaster has made such a determination and all six of the recommendations Deepcaster has made in the last sixty days are showing a profit.

To not oversimplify too much, on one “side” of this Titanic Battle are the (market participants which collectively represent the) “natural” fundamental market forces.  In considering the investment and trading decisions these participants make, one must also consider the technical patterns which reflect the way in which these decisions and the fundamentals are played out in the marketplace.

On the other “side” (as Deepcaster has detailed in recent Letters and Alerts) is The Fed-led Cartel of Central Bankers whose massive derivatives positions (via their primary dealers) allow it to intervene in markets ranging from Gold, Silver and Crude Oil to the Equities Markets. *

* [We encourage those who doubt the existence of Intervention by a Fed-led Cartel of Central Bankers to read Deepcaster’s October, 2006 summary overview of Intervention entitled “Juiced Numbers IV:  How the Government Gets the Statistics It ‘Wants,’ Markets Get Manipulated, Citizens Get Deluded, and Worse” at www.deepcaster.com.  Also consider the substantial evidence collected by the Gold AntiTrust Action Committee at www.gata.org for information on precious metals price manipulation.  Virtually all of the evidence for intervention has been gleaned from publicly available records.]

The fact that these derivatives positions allow The Cartel to be the biggest “player” in the aforementioned markets has allowed The Cartel to largely control fate of these markets.

The public image of The Fed is carefully controlled via its “communications policy.”  For example, last week’s widely ballyhooed Fed addition of Repurchase Agreements (Repos) to provide liquidity to the markets is NOT unusual (as the Big Media would have us believe).  Indeed, Repo additions occur nearly every day the markets are open.  The Repurchase Agreement pool is one of the derivatives vehicles The Cartel uses to control the markets.

But, as Deepcaster has noted, The Cartel is constrained in the scope of its Interventions by a variety of factors as we indicated in our August Letter and in earlier Letters and Alerts.  Briefly, they must be credible, plausible, largely hidden, and not push the markets “too far” away from their “natural” course.

So the Great Market Question (and the one which will determine whether one may massively profit or not from the unfolding market moves) is which “side” will “win” this ongoing Titanic Market Battle?  And how will this “win” likely be reflected in the Gold, Silver, Crude Oil and Equities Markets?

Will The Cartel successfully force these key markets to bend to its will to protect its Fiat Currencies and Treasury Securities and ostensibly control inflation?

And what would the consequences of a Cartel “win” be for the Gold, Silver, Crude Oil and Equities Markets?

Or will the “natural” market forces win out, with one possible consequence being that the increasingly disruptive sub-prime meltdown Ripple Effect continues to ambush the major markets?  Or is The Cartel allowing, or even managing, various Markets Takedowns?  There are Interventional Indicators which allow us to develop high-probability “answers” to these questions.

Deepcaster’s response to these questions is reflected in its investment recommendations (all six made in the last sixty days show a profit) described its recent Alerts and Letters, and its Latest Market Forecast just posted at www.deepcaster.com.

The outcome of this battle is absolutely crucial for the fate not only of the Gold, Silver, Crude Oil and Equities Markets but also of the economy to which the markets are inextricably tied.
