Casey's Crisis & Opportunity
Summit - Part II
March 25 - 27, 2008

Presented by:

Co-Sponsored by:

Dear Reader,

We are finally beginning to see the full extent of the credit crisis triggered by the subprime mortgage meltdown, and its repercussions in the broader economy:

  • Major investment banks announcing multi-billion-dollar write-downs
  • Giants like Merrill Lynch and Citigroup selling out assets to China, Kuwait, and Dubai
  • Home foreclosures up 92% year over year
  • The dollar hitting all-time lows against other major currencies
  • Food and energy prices rising (food is up 25-40%, and counting)

And this is just the beginning.

But, as Doug Casey likes to say, crisis means danger plus opportunity - and the opportunities for contrarian investors have never been better than today... if you know what to look for.

For that reason, we decided to host the Casey's Crisis & Opportunity Summit - Part II - this time in Scottsdale, AZ, at the beautiful Scottsdale Plaza Resort, from March 25 - 27, 2008.

As usual, attendance will be strictly limited (more on that momentarily).

Nothing Ordinary Here

The Casey Summits are unique in the industry. For starters, we don't hold them on any fixed schedule - but rather only when we feel there is a pressing need for the sort of immersive experience you can get only at the Summits.

Secondly, we don't hold them in any fixed venue - but rather wherever our collective wanderlust takes us. Scottsdale, Arizona in March offers a beautiful respite from the winter weather and so that's the spot for the next Summit.

Finally, we are extraordinarily careful with our faculty, selected for their undisputed expertise and specific ability to answer the most pressing questions now weighing on the minds of participants.

And there have rarely, if ever, been more pressing questions to be answered.

That's because the crisis we have been warning about in recent years is now upon us. It is for this reason that we are once again dedicating the entire Summit to understanding how this crisis now looks to unfold and the specific ways you can protect your net worth, and even to enhance it.

Conference organizers like to use phrases like
"... promises to be our best ever." But frankly, I have doubts we'll be able to top our Crisis & Opportunity Summit - Part I, which was held in November of last year. It was a truly exceptional event, with fascinating speakers (including two billionaires) and a collegial atmosphere of the sort you might associate with a happy family reunion.

That said, despite the considerable challenge, you have our earnest assurances that we are going all out to top that event with our Scottsdale Summit. Who knows, we might actually succeed? And, so far, we are making very good progress on confirming the faculty we have gone after.

The Faculty So Far...
Tentative Program as of January 16, 2008 - subject to change

"The Reckoning"
Long-term Casey friend and fellow traveler WILLIAM BONNER, chairman of Agora Financial, will kick off the Scottsdale Summit with his always insightful, and often entertaining, overview and update on the state of the global economy and investment markets.

The Credit & Currency Crisis: Where Now, Where Next?
At the first Casey Research Crisis & Opportunity Summit, the audience received an intensive, fast-moving look at the unfolding crisis; its causes, how it was most likely to unfold, how bad it could get and, of course, how to position their portfolios. In Scottsdale, March 25 – 27, you'll receive an update on the latest developments from Casey Research Chief Economist BUD CONRAD, allowing you to calibrate your own investment strategies for maximum profits and minimum pain. Because Summit attendance is strictly limited, ample time is allowed to assure you get your specific questions answered on this crucial topic.

Update on Peak Oil
Oil has recently touched $100 per barrel, an all-time high in both nominal and inflation-adjusted terms. Is it due to excessive speculation, or have we really reached the end of cheap oil? In Scottsdale, Jeffrey J. Brown, a Dallas-based independent petroleum geologist and a frequent contributor to The Oil Drum and Energy Bulletin, will update the facts and set the context for energy prices going forward. Imagine you could look into the future and know where oil prices are headed. After Scottsdale, you will...

The Outlook for Real Estate:
A Macro to Micro Analysis

The real estate bubble is rapidly deflating, causing hardship for financial institutions, homeowners and real estate investors alike. Andy Miller, one of the nation's most knowledgeable and successful real estate entrepreneurs, makes a rare public appearance to provide a macro-analysis of the state of real estate markets. He shares his views on how long and deep the bear market may run, talks about the indicators he'll be watching to get a sense of when it's safe to buy again, and which investments should hold promise... plus those to avoid like the plague. He'll then open the floor for your most pressing questions.

Protecting Yourself from Runaway Government
Most investors fail to fully appreciate the size of the role that government plays in the global economy and investment markets. Whether it is unleashing inflation with failed monetary policy, beggaring citizens with taxation, curbing the free flow of people and goods or unleashing expensive foreign adventures... government counts large. The bad news is that governments are only going to get more invasive and foreign exchange controls are increasingly likely. By popular demand, global privacy specialist Mark Nestmann will share details on specific steps you may be able to take to legally protect yourself.

The Gold Bull Market Under the Microscope
If we are right and we are still relatively early on in the gold bull market of a lifetime, then we'll become very close friends with the local champagne merchant. But if we're wrong, the portfolio pain could be intense. So, which will it be? Is this just another garden variety bull market for gold, or is there something fundamentally different and special about it? This will be a topic discussed by several speakers, including James Turk of GoldMoney.com in his first appearance at a Casey Summit.

Base Metals: Buy, Sell or Stand Aside?
In Scottsdale, you'll hear some of the world's most knowledgeable resource pros, including superstar fund manager Frank Holmes of U.S. Global Investors, on the short-, medium- and longer-term outlook for base metals. Is the recent correction the beginning of the end for the bull market we've profited from in recent years… or a major buying opportunity? How will the U.S. downturn really affect global demand and prices for base metals?

Profits from Peak Food?
As strongly as oil and gold performed in 2007, their returns were outstripped by grains, the year's top-performing commodity sector. In fact, if you had followed the recommendation to buy grain futures in the August 2006 edition of International Speculator, you could have earned 2,000% or better. In a special tag-team presentation, Bud Conrad will discuss his latest research on agricultural commodities. Afterwards, commodities specialist Robert Meier will share his top strategies for investing in the sector for maximum upside while carefully managing risks.

Today's Best Resource Stocks/Your Stocks,
Your Questions

Our ever-popular, rapid-fire panel featuring leading mining stock analysts discussing their favorite plays, then opening the floor to provide candid opinions on your most important portfolio holdings. Moderated by Louis James, senior analyst/managing editor, International Speculator.

Building an Energy Portfolio for 2008 & Beyond
In recent years, the large-cap, multinational oil companies and selected alternative energy plays have been among the best ways to profit from rising energy prices. In this panel discussion, a group of analysts will discuss large cap vs. small cap, oil vs. gas, uranium and alternative energy plays… all focused on helping you build a balanced portfolio of highly prospective energy investments. Panel discussion moderated by Marin Katusa, senior investment strategist of Casey Research's Energy Division.

The Next Big Thing
There is no better way to make an investment fortune than getting positioned in the early days of an unfolding trend. At the Casey Research Crisis & Opportunity Summit, you'll hear Doug Casey and a panel of experts discuss the next big thing… the trends you want to start paying close attention to today for the big money tomorrow.

PLUS...

No-Brainers for the Balance of This Decade
Rick Rule, chairman of Global Resource Investments, has gained a well-deserved reputation as one of the most knowledgeable professionals working in the natural resource sector. In this special Summit presentation, he'll share his favorite "no-brainer" investments you can profit from in the years just ahead.

Nevada: An Interview with Explorers' League Honoree Ron Parratt
In one of several very special Explorers' League programs at the Summit, we'll turn the spotlight on super-successful Nevada gold explorer Ron Parratt for an update on the most intriguing new exploration programs in that prolific state… plus the impact of possible changes in U.S. mining law on Nevada projects and more.

The Central Banks and Gold
Chris Powell of GATA.org discusses manipulations of the gold price by central banks, and the increasing challenges they face as they attempt to keep gold prices down in the face of today's raging bull market.

Using Options to Leverage Your Crisis Investing
There are an abundance of ways you can protect yourself and profit from the unfolding crisis, through investments in precious metals, energy, agricultural commodities, currencies and a variety of indices (including shorting). Used cautiously, options can be an excellent way to leverage those bets. In a special hands-on workshop, Stephen Belmont and Robert Meier will give you a working knowledge of what you need to know to successfully trade options, how to avoid the most common pitfalls, and some of their favorite trades today.

Winning Strategies in Resource Stock Investing
A "how to" workshop on the specific methods used by some of the world's most successful resource stock investors to maximize their profits. Includes buying shell companies, how to be invited to participate in private placements and CPCs. Plus, tools of the trade and much more.

And that is just for starters... but you'll have to act fast to participate

You can expect additional faculty announcements soon, including the names of the Explorers' League Honorees who will be on the program.

But you should not wait to register. As always, we strictly limit the Summit to just 325 participants in order to foster interaction between the audience and the faculty and to assure adequate opportunities for you to get your most pressing portfolio questions answered.

These Summits really are unique and collegial events, well worth making it if you can swing the $895 registration fee. But, as every Summit we have ever held has been a quick sell-out, if you are thinking of attending, you should sign up right away. (One-third of the seats have been taken.)
