- Chip Hanlon C.O.O. and Chief Domestic Strategist
A renowned technical analyst, Mr. Hanlon oversees Euro Pac’s entire advisory staff in addition to driving the firm’s domestic research. He was the president of Unfunds, Inc., a registered investment advisory firm in Huntington Beach, California, prior to its acquisition by Euro Pacific Capital in January 2003.
Prior to opening Unfunds in July 2000, Mr. Hanlon was the Vice President of Investments with Sutro & Co., a great old San Francisco firm that no longer exists in name due to its acquisition by Dain Rauscher in 2002. Due to his focus on individual portfolio management and his position as Sutro's Syndicate Director, Chip developed a respect for, and in-depth understanding of, technical analysis as an alternative to Wall Street's fundamental research. It was this analytical expertise that lead him to create Unfunds in July of 2000.
His investment career began at Oppenheimer & Company, during his final trimester studying political science at UCLA in the Spring of 1993, as a research assistant to a broker dealing strictly with European banks. He remained in this fast-paced, institutional position until joining Sutro & Co. in January of 1994.
Mr. Hanlon is the past-Editor of the Unfundamentals Market Newsletter, a current member of American Mensa and was on the budget task force of Bill Simon, 2002 Republican candidate for governor in the state of California.
