Orex Initiates Airborne Geophysical Survey Over Barsele Gold Project, Sweden

-- Posted Monday, 9 May 2011 | | Source: GoldSeek.com

Vancouver, B.C. – Orex Minerals Inc. – (REX: TSX-V, ORXIF.PK) (“Orex”) is pleased to announce that SkyTEM Surveys ApS of Denmark has initiated 2,200 line kilometres of airborne geophysical surveying within our Barsele Gold/Base Metal Project in Sweden.

The helicopter supported survey is a deep penetrating Time-Domain Electromagnetic (TDEM) System. Magnetics will be flown at the same time. Line spacing will vary between 100 and 200 meters, depending on the detail required.

The airborne survey search targets are intrusive hosted disseminated gold and massive sulphide deposits.  The flying of the survey is expected to take a week to ten days.  A final report is anticipated by mid June.  Airborne anomalies will be followed up with detailed ground geophysical surveys, toward definition of drill targets.

Gary Cope, President of Orex, says, “This is the beginning of Orex’s exploration program at Barsele, which will include both airborne and ground geophysical surveys, diamond drilling and bulk sampling.  Our intent is to enhance and expand the known resources, as well as start the definition and drill testing of new targets, within the 32,700 hectares of our concessions.”

The Barsele Deposit is located some 40 kilometres southeast of the town of Storuman in Västerbottens Län, a regional district of northern Sweden approximately 600 km due north of Stockholm. The geographic coordinates for the Project are approximately 65°05' north latitude and 17°30' east longitude.

Art Freeze, P.Geo., a director of Orex, is a Qualified Person as defined in NI43-101 and takes responsibility for the technical disclosure in this news release.
