To the Italian Government and the Italian Parliament

Dear Onorevoli

We are a group of Italians interested in Economics and Financial Markets. Since 2002, we have shared our views with each other on the website www.usemlab.com, where we discuss Economics, publish analysis, and follow the world economy with increasing concerns.

The recent resumption of the debate about the dismissal of our national gold reserves this time looks, unfortunately, more consistent than usual.

We have always paid special attention to the gold market, also on the basis of the teachings of the Austrian School of Economics (Mises,Rothbard and Nobel Prize Hayek), which has always been advocating a return to honest money.

Faced with the threat of the liquidation of our gold reserves, we feel compelled to submit the following proposal, which we intend to distribute via as many sources as possible.

When the moment comes for a family to sell their jewelry, for cash needs, it is an Italian tradition to keep it within the immediate or larger family. One looks for the rich uncle, the cousin who made lots of money or the wise brother and sells to one of them.

It's a sort of Italian version, a family way, of the American belief that gold belongs to the People, even though it is stored in the Central Bank's vault.

Therefore, why don't you sell Gold to the Italians, if you do have to sell it?

We are convinced that if the unfortunate proposal to sell our reserves becomes a reality, then it must be conducted in the same way as all the previous privatizations of the last few years, and offered to the Italian People.

Besides, Gold being able to be sold in small lots that anyone can afford, such privatization should be reserved to the Italian Common People, to each single Italian. Big groups of economic influence, that snapped off most of the past privatizations, should be kept out of the deal. Based on the estimated amount of 2,000 tons, one ounce of gold should be allotted to each Italian for purchase.

We are hoping to get this concerned plea to some sensitive hearts and careful ears.

Kind Regards

The Staff of www.usemlab.com
