The true nature of the global economy is not visible to the average citizen. Unknown to most, government today in most countries is an agency of globalized businesses. Business funds get them elected, and business interests supersede those of the public they govern.
We have an opportunity, with the making of the documentary feature film “Crime of the Century”, (http://www.crimeofthecenturymovie.com) to reach out to millions of people who still think the dollar is backed by gold and tell them otherwise. We have an opportunity to punch a hole in the veil of secrecy surrounding the gold market and its derivatives counterpart and collectively demand transparency in the trading in these markets. There is a need to redesign the economic apparatus so that it doesn’t just funnel the bounty of the planet into the hands of increasingly few.
This is as classic a case of Good vs. Evil as ever there was. A modern day Davy and Goliath, attempts to thwart our success are already substantial. We seek to illuminate the true relationship between banking and government, and the story of gold and its manipulation is the means by which we will do it.
Here’s what we’re up against.
First off, several rather mainstream fund managers, while acknowledging sympathy for and agreement with our position that the government conducts its affairs in opposition to the citizenry through unlawful manipulation of some markets and tacit non-enforcement of certain laws, they can’t be seen to financially support such a blatant statement of fact in documentary format. They fear repercussions from un-named regulatory bodies. There is also some concern that such activist financing may jeopardize investment in the fund. The dreaded ”R” word has also reared its ugly head. (redemptions)
Since publicly announcing the undertaking of this venture, I have experienced unprecedented harassment by border guards upon every entry into the United States, and I’ve been advised, as of last week, that I am going to be audited by the tax man. Fortunately, my ducks are in a row, and so nothing material will arise. But for some reason, I’m garnering the attention of every government office in the land.
Secondly, in discussion with major distributors, I am advised that should this film be deemed too controversial by the senior management of their respective firms, then they would have the right to shelve the film in some dark archive, never to see the light of day. That is, if I was to take their money in exchange for distribution rights, which is one traditional path to getting documentary films financed.
Third, the less visionary among potential investors out there complain that “it will be too late”. In the time it takes for this film to get made, they say, gold will have already surpassed $2,000 an ounce. To which I can only reply, “Do you think the interest in a film about gold and money will be of less interest to the public with gold at $2,000+ per ounce, and the dollar down 50%?
Trying to raise $2 million for this film has certainly proven a challenge in these times especially, however, since the alternative is not acceptable, we continue to lobby investors day in and day out and progress is substantial – but we still need to get through $1.5 million.
But one thing is certain. We know by the scrutiny, harassment, and avalanche of donations, support and talk show invitations that we are definitely on the right track. Those we approach are either too afraid to speak on camera, or else only too eager to get their chance. There’s no middle ground - you’re either in or you’re out.
The main issue surrounding this film is the timing. We are arguably reaching the point in our real time evolution where, after our economic freedom is destroyed, our freedom of speech may be next. I can hear the groans of skepticism out there, but those were the same groans heard on the bridge of the Titanic on her maiden voyage.
One of the fascinating aspects about this documentary (and why we’re trying to get it financed as quickly as possible) is that this story is unfolding in real time. It is almost unheard of to be consciously making a documentary dealing with matters of historical significance as they are happening. But that is certainly the case here.
Just look at the myriad developments unfolding.
COMEX on the brink of default. The United States Treasury so diluted that sovereign holders of major reserves of U.S. Dollars dare not unload them for fear of starting a stampede.
An African American president in the White House, whose economic inexperience is apparent in his choice of advisors.
Every day, the assertions and statements of government and media sound less and less like reporting and more like perception management.
The truth behind the real management of the economy needs to be told. Corruption at the top spreads downward, and the increasing violence in schools is proportionally related to the rise of duplicitous leadership throughout our society. Our children will reap the consequences of our inaction if nothing is done.
