The Metals: Gold rose a few dollars in Asia and gained a few more to above $640 in London before it fell back off a bit in early New York trade, but it rallied back higher to about $640 in late morning trade and remained near that level into the close to end with a gain of 0.58%. Silver added about 15 cents in Asia and rose above $13.00 in London before it added another 10 cents in late morning New York trade and ended near its highs with a gain of 2.18%.
Euro gold rose to about €482, platinum gained $1 to $1,134, palladium gained $1 to $333, and copper fell over 6 cents to about $2.77. The Economy: Today’s economic reports were delayed until tomorrow. At 10AM are Construction Spending for November expected at -0.6% and the ISM Index for December expected at 50.0 and at 2PM is the release of FOMC minutes from their December 12th meeting.
