The Metals:
Gold saw slight gains in Asia before it fell back off in London and early New York trade to see a $14.56 loss at as low as $1371.94 by about 10AM EST, but it then bounced back higher in the last few hours of trade and ended with a loss of just 0.38%. Silver fell to as low as $28.933 before it also rallied back higher and ended with a gain of 0.07%.
Euro gold fell to about €1053, platinum lost $11.50 to $1713.50, and copper fell a couple of cents to about $4.25.
Gold and silver equities fell about 1% at the open, but they then rallied back higher for most of the rest of the day and ended with about 1% gains.

Mortgage rates edge down after 5 weeks of gains Yahoo

Oil rose to an over 2-year high on worries over tight supplies and increasing demand.
The U.S. dollar index reversed early gains and ended lower along with treasuries as the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P shrugged off slightly worse than expected economic data and ended near unchanged.
Among the big names making news in the market Friday were Morgan Stanley and JPMorgan, J0-Ann Stores and Leonard Green, Rovi and Sonic Solutions, and Sunoco.
