The Metals:
Gold saw slight losses in Asia, but it then chopped its way back higher in London and New York and ended with a gain of 0.85%. Silver surged to as high as $28.593 and ended with a gain of 0.67%.
Euro gold rose to about €1257, platinum gained $12.25. to $1426.75, and copper gained a couple of cents to about $3.45.
Gold and silver equities traded mostly slightly higher and ended with modest gains.

Oil edged higher on decent economic data.
The U.S. dollar index and treasuries rose on continued worries about Europe that sent the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P lower.
Among the big names making news in the market Friday were JPMorgan, Morgan Stanley, and Lehman Brothers.
