The Metals:
Gold fell to $1612.72 in Asia before it rose to see a slight gain at $1622.36 at about 8:40AM EST and then fell to a new session low of $1612.65 in the next hour and a half of trade, but it then bounced back higher midday and ended with a loss of just 0.12%. Silver slipped to $28.101 in Asia, but it then rose to as high as $28.57 in New York and ended with a gain of 1.1%.
Euro gold rose to about €1300, platinum gained $9.50 to $1436.00, and copper fell slightly to about $3.30.
Gold and silver equities saw slight losses for most of the morning, but they then rebounded midday and ended with modest gains.

Oil ended slightly higher on optimism over today’s decent ISM Services reading.
The U.S. dollar index rose as the euro fell after the G7 failed to make a statement following their teleconference today.
Treasuries fell as the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P rose on economic data that broke the recent trend and did not disappoint.
Among the big names making news in the market today were MF Global, FedEx, and Goldman Sachs.
