The Metals:
Gold rose $5.90 to $1633.30 in Asia before it fell back to $1617.40 in early afternoon New York trade, but it then bounced back higher into the close and ended with a loss of just 0.48%. Silver climbed to $28.938 before it slipped back to $28.33, but it then also rallied back higher late trade and ended with a loss of just 1.08%.
Euro gold fell to about €1277, platinum gained $24 to $1474.50, and copper rose 4 cents to about $3.43.
Gold and silver equities waffled near unchanged and ended with slight gains.

Oil rose as the U.S. dollar index fell ahead of tomorrow’s fed announcement.
Treasuries fell as the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P rose on relief over Europe.
“The cost of insuring Spanish sovereign debt fell from an all-time high as the nation sold 3.04 billion euros ($3.8 billion) of bills, compared with a target of 3 billion euros.”
Among the big names making news in the market today were FedEx, Walgreen, Microsoft, JPMorgan, UPS, and CBS.
