The Metals:
Gold climbed $6.17 to $1715.17 by about 7:30AM EST before it fell back off in New York, but it still ended with a gain of 0.03%. Silver rose to as high as $32.118 before it also fell back off, but it still ended with a gain of 0.06%.
Euro gold fell to about €1319, platinum gained $18 to $1548.20, and copper remained at about $3.51.

Tomorrow at 8:15AM EST brings ADP Employment for October expected at 143,000. At 8:30 is the third quarter Employment Cost Index expected at 0.5%, and at 9:45 is Chicago PMI for October expected at 50.9.

Oil ended slightly higher on an expected return to normal levels of energy demand.
The U.S. dollar index and treasuries fell as stock futures rose on decent earnings reports and relief that most markets should return to mostly normal operations tomorrow.
Among the big names making news in the market today were IBM, US Steel, Fiat, Ford, and Apple.
