The Metals:
Gold dropped $8.02 to $1686.18 in Asia, but it then rose to as high as $1699.10 in New York and ended with a gain of 0.22%. Silver climbed to as high as $32.374 and ended with a gain of 0.12%.
Euro gold rose to about €1290, platinum lost $11.50 to $1602, and copper fell slightly to about $3.65.
Gold and silver equities waffled near unchanged and ended with modest gains.

Tomorrow at 8:30AM EST brings the third quarter Current Account Balance expected at -$104.2 billion and at 10AM is the NAHB Housing Market Index for December expected at 47.

The U.S. dollar index ended slightly lower in mixed trade while the yen fell on expectations for further monetary easing in Japan.
Treasuries fell as oil rose along with the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P on hopes for a resolution to the fiscal cliff.
Among the big names making news in the market today were Morgan Stanley, Elliott, JPMorgan, Sun Life, Clearwire, Apple, Cisco, Akamai, and AIG.
