The Metals:
Gold climbed up to $1665.85 at about 9:30AM EST before it pared its gains a bit midday, but it still ended with a gain of 0.47%. Silver soared to as high as $31.47 and ended with a gain of 1.59%.
Euro gold climbed to almost €1233, platinum gained $14 to $1675.50, and copper climbed a couple of cents to about $3.68.
Gold and silver equities rose about 1.5% at the open and remained near that level for the rest of the day.

Tomorrow at 8:15AM EST brings ADP Employment for January expected at 175,000. At 8:30 is fourth quarter GDP expected at 1.0% and the Chain Deflator expected at 1.6%, and at 2:15PM is a FOMC Rate Decision.

Oil climbed over 1% higher on continued tensions in the Middle East.
The U.S. dollar index fell as the euro rose to a 14-month high ahead of tomorrow’s fed meeting that is expected to maintain an ultra-easy monetary policy.
Treasuries turned lower after today’s $35 billion five-year note auction sold at a yield of 0.889% with a bid to cover of 2.88.
The Dow and S&P climbed higher on decent earnings reports while the Nasdaq traded mostly slightly lower on worries about RIM’s launch of BlackBerry 10.
Among the big names making news in the market today were RIM, Wal-Mart, EMC, Boston Scientific, Pfizer, Hostess, Ford, Lilly, AMR, and Chipotle.
