The Metals:
Gold dropped down to $1369.78 at about 4:30AM EST before it rallied back higher for most of the rest of trade, but it still ended with a loss of 0.43%. Silver slipped to as low as $22.12 in Asia, but it then climbed to as high as $22.797 in New York and ended with a gain of 0.71%.
Euro gold fell to about €1077, platinum lost $5.50 to $1481.50, and copper climbed a couple of cents to about $3.29.
Gold and silver equities fell about 2.5% at the open, but they soon rebounded back to about unchanged and ended mixed on the day.

Oil rose as the U.S. dollar index fell on poor economic data that sent treasuries higher and the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P lower.
Among the big names making news in the market today were Cisco, Wal-Mart, Tesla, Sprint, Berkshire, and JPMorgan.
