The Metals:
Gold fell $6.75 to $1278.25 in Asia before it climbed to as high as $1295.40 in New York and then fell back off a bit midday, but it still ended with a gain of 0.58%. Silver surged to as high as $20.056 and ended with a gain of 0.3%.
Euro gold fell under €982, platinum gained $0.50 to $1420.00, and copper climbed a few cents to about $3.18.
Gold and silver equities rose over 5% in the last minutes of trade and ended near their highs of the day.

Tomorrow brings Bernanke testimony, Housing Starts, Building Permits, and the fed’s Beige Book. Bernanke testifies before the House Financial Services committee at 10AM EST. His remarks will be released at 8:30. He’ll appear before the Senate Banking committee on Thursday.

Oil fell slightly ahead of tomorrow’s inventory report.
Treasuries rose as the U.S. dollar index dropped along with the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P on worries about what Bernanke will say tomorrow.
Among the big names making news in the market today were Dell, Baidu, Charles Schwab, J&J, Coca-Cola, Bally Technologies, and Goldman Sachs.
