The Metals:
Gold climbed $12.62 to $1320.32 in Asia before it fell to as low as $1297.56 in late morning New York trade and then bounced back higher into the close, but it still ended with a loss of 0.48%. Silver rose to as high as $20.009 in Asia before it fell back to $19.55 and then also bounced back higher, but it still ended with a loss of 0.71%.
Euro gold fell to about €981, platinum rose $2.05 to $1445.75, and copper climbed a penny to about $3.17.
Gold and silver equities rose over 1% in the first half hour of trade, but they then fell to see modest loses by midday and remained near that level into the close.

Oil followed the U.S. dollar index modestly higher after this morning’s better than expected ISM Services report was released, but they both then drifted back off into the close and ended slightly lower on the day.
Treasuries remained lower after this morning’s better than expected economic data.
The Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P traded mostly lower on worries about fed tapering.
Among the big names making news in the market today were Time Warner Cable, Revlon, and HSBC.
