The Metals:
Gold fell $11.70 to $1359.60 at about 5AM EST before it rose to as high as $1378.20 after today’s fed minutes were released, but it then fell back off into the close and ended with a loss of 0.28%. Silver slipped to $22.76 before it climbed to as high as $23.342 by a little before 3PM EST, but it then fell back off in the last hour of trade and ended with a loss of 0.3%.
Euro gold rose to about €1024, platinum gained $2.30 to $1516.50, and copper fell slightly to about $3.32.
Gold and silver equities fell over 2% in the first half hour of trade and saw over 3% losses after the release of today’s fed’s minutes before they chopped back higher at times, but they then fell to new session lows in the last minutes of trade and ended with over 4% losses.

The Markets:

Oil remained lower as the U.S. dollar index climbed higher both ahead of, and after, the release of minutes from the fed’s last meeting.
Treasuries extended lower after the release of today’s fed minutes.
The Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P ultimately ended noticeably lower on uncertainty about what the fed will do.
Among the big names making news in the market today were Fannie Mae, Target, Staples, J.C. Penney, and Lowe’s.
