The Metals:

 

Gold saw modest gains in Asia before it fell to see an over 1% loss at $1306.07 at about 9AM EST, but it then rallied back higher in several sharp spurts at various times throughout the rest of trade and ended with a gain of 0.11%.  Silver slipped to as low as $21.299 before it also rallied back higher and ended with a gain of 0.42%.

 

Euro gold climbed to almost €982, platinum rose $2.20 to $1421.20, and copper fell a few cents to about $3.27.

 

Gold and silver equities waffled near unchanged and ended mixed.

Oil ended with a modest loss as the U.S. dollar index edged higher on decent economic data.

 

Treasuries remained higher after today’s $33 billion 2-year note auction sold at a yield of 0.348% with a bid to cover of 3.09.

 

The Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P ended near unchanged in mixed trade.

 

Among the big names making news in the market today were Morgan Stanley, Wells Fargo, JPMorgan, Applied Materials, Twitter, Carnival, and Lennar.
