The Metals:
Gold fell $7.24 to $1280.46 at about 5AM EST before it climbed back to $1290.25 by early afternoon in New York, but it then edged back lower into the close and ended with a gain of just 0.01%. Silver slipped to as low as $20.577 and ended with a loss of 0.29%.
Euro gold fell back under €955, platinum lost $6 to $1438, and copper remained at about $3.17.
Gold and silver equities fell over 1% by midafternoon and remained near that level for the rest of the day.

Oil ended slightly higher as the U.S. dollar index fell on mixed economic data.
Treasuries waffled near unchanged as the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P rose on hopes for continued fed stimulus.
