The Metals:
Gold fell $8.49 to $1254.01 at about 8AM EST before it rebounded to $1262.84 in the next hour and a half of trade, but it then fell to a new session low of $1252.06 in afternoon trade and ended with a loss of 0.76%. Silver slipped to as low as $20.232 and ended with a loss of 0.44%.
Euro gold fell to about €909, platinum lost $4 to $1383, and copper climbed 4 cents to about $3.31.
Gold and silver equities saw only slight losses for most of the morning, but they then accelerated lower in afternoon trade and ended with over 3% losses.

Oil briefly pared early losses after the Energy Information Administration reported that crude inventories fell 10.6 million barrels, gasoline inventories rose 6.7 million barrels, and distillates rose 4.5 million barrels.
The U.S. dollar index fell as the euro rose on the view that the ECB will not cut rates any further.
Treasuries remained lower after today’s $21 billion 10-year note auction sold at a yield of 2.824% with a bid to cover of 2.61.
The Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P fell on poor earnings reports and uncertainty about future fed stimulus.
Among the big names making news in the market today were Costco, Avon, Home Depot, and Microsoft.
