The Metals:
Gold edged down to $1196.44 at about 5:30AM EST, but it then climbed steadily higher throughout most of the rest of the day and ended near its late session high of $1205.36 with a gain of 0.45%. Silver surged to as high as $19.566 and ended with a gain of 0.31%.
Euro gold rose to about €880, platinum gained $7 to $1331, and copper climbed 7 cents to about $3.40.
Gold and silver equities rose throughout trade and ended with about 3% gains.

Oil rose on worries about escalating violence in Sudan.
The U.S. dollar index saw modest gains and treasuries fell on better than expected economic data that sent the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P higher.
Among the big names making news in the market today were Tesla, Merck, KKR, JPMorgan, and Blackstone.
