The Metals:
Gold edged up to $1260.83 in Asia Before it dropped back to $1247.31 in early New York trade, but it then rallied back higher into the close and ended with a loss of just 0.25%. Silver slipped to as low as $19.287 at one point, but it then climbed to as high as $19.528 in late trade and ended with a gain of 0.72%.
Euro gold fell to about €928, platinum lost $9 to $1372, and copper remained at about $3.19.
Gold and silver equities saw slight losses for most of the morning, but they then rallied back higher in the last hour of trade and ended with modest gains.

Oil edged higher along with the U.S. dollar index and treasuries fell as the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P bounced back from yesterday’s notable losses.
Among the big names making news in the market today were Take-Two, BP, Wal-Mart, J.C. Penney, and Microsoft.
