The Metals:
Gold climbed to $1266.78 by a little before 9AM EST before it fell back to $1253.03 in the next couple of hours of trade, but it then edged back higher into the close and ended with a loss of just 0.04%. Silver popped up to $20.182 before it dropped back to $19.853, but it still ended with a gain of 0.45%.
Euro gold fell to about €925, platinum lost $5.70 to $1373, and copper climbed a few cents to about $3.22.
Gold and silver equities waffled near unchanged and ended slightly lower.

Oil rose on decent economic data that offset some milder weather predictions.
The U.S. dollar index fell as the euro jumped higher after the ECB’s Draghi indicated the bank doesn’t see a threat of deflation.
Treasuries fell as the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P saw decent gains on mostly better than expected earnings reports.
Among the big names making news in the market today were Dunkin' Donuts, Twitter, GM, AOL, Sony, and Fox.
