The Metals:
Gold fell $6.38 to $1331.42 at about 5:45AM EST before it climbed to as high as $1343.58 by late morning in New York, but it then drifted back lower in the last half hour of trade and ended with a gain of just 0.21%. Silver slipped to $21.679 before it rallied back to $22.007, but it then fell back off in late trade and ended with a loss of 0.68%.
Euro gold rose to almost €976, platinum remained at $1435, and copper fell slightly to about $3.24.
Gold and silver equities traded mostly slightly lower and ended with about 1% losses.

Oil fell ahead of tomorrow’s inventory report.
The U.S. dollar index dropped on more poor economic data.
Treasuries remained higher after today’s $32 billion 2-year note auction sold at a yield of 0.34% with a bid to cover of 3.60.
The Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P ended slightly lower in mixed trade.
Among the big names making news in the market today were T-Mobile, JPMorgan, Macy’s, and Home Depot.
