The Metals:
Gold gained $7.79 to $1317.29 in Asia before it fell back to $1306.15 at about 8:30AM EST, but it then bounced back higher in New York and ended with a gain of 0.18%. Silver rose to as high as $20.204 before it dropped back to $19.931 and then also bounced back higher, but it ended with a gain of just 0.1%.
Euro gold rose to about €949, platinum lost $4 to $1416, and copper climbed 5 cents to about $3.00.
Gold and silver equities rose over 1% in the first half hour of trade before they fell back towards unchanged by midday, but they then edged back higher in afternoon trade and ended with about 0.5% gains.

Oil ended lower in mixed trade ahead of tomorrow’s inventory data.
The U.S. dollar index rose as the euro fell after a poor reading of German business confidence.
Treasuries closed slightly lower as the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P traded mostly higher on mixed economic data.
Among the big names making news in the market today were JPMorgan and Carlyle, CommonWealth REIT, American Apparel, J. Crew, Disney, Google, and MetLife.
