Gold edged up to $1313.92 in Asia before it fell back to $1301.58 at about 9:30AM EST and then rose to as high as $1315.01 after the release of today’s fed minutes, but it then drifted back lower into the close and ended with a gain of just 0.18%. Silver slipped to as low as $19.621 before it also rallied back higher, but it still ended with a loss of 0.65%.
Euro gold fell to about €946, platinum gained $2 to $1439, and copper remained at about $3.04.
Gold and silver equities fell about 1% at the open, but they then climbed back higher in the last couple of hours of trade and ended with modest gains.
Minutes from the fed’s March 19th meeting showed that, regarding interest rates:
“Several participants noted that the increase in the median projection overstated the shift in the projections.”

Oil climbed higher on worries about Libya and Ukraine.
The U.S. dollar index extended lower after the release of today’s dovish fed minutes pared early losses in treasuries.
The Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P rose on decent earning reports and dovish fed commentary.
