The Metals:
Gold dipped $2.64 to $1282.36 in Asia before it popped up to $1288.84 in London and then dropped to a new session low of $1281.03 in late morning New York trade, but it then rallied back higher midday and ended with a loss of just 0.05%. Silver slipped to as low as $19.399 and ended with a loss of 0.1%.
Euro gold remained at about €930, platinum gained $3 to $1400, and copper remained at about $3.06
Gold and silver equities climbed steadily higher for most of the day and ended with about 2.5% gains.

Oil remained slightly lower after the Energy Information Administration reported that crude inventories rose 3.5 million barrels, gasoline inventories fell 300,000 barrels, and distillates rose 600,000 barrels.
The U.S. dollar index dropped and treasuries rose on mostly worse than expected economic data from around the world that sent the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P lower. Today’s $35 billion 5-year note auction sold at yield of 1.732% with a bid to cover of 2.79.
Among the big names making news in the market today were P&G, Delta, Boeing, and Apple.
