Gold dropped $8.25 to $1310.75 in Asia and held modestly lower for most of trade in London, but it then climbed to as high as $1324.85 in New York and ended with a gain of 0.02%. Silver slipped to $20.711 in Asia, but it then rose to as high as $21.16 in New York and ended with a gain of 0.53%.
Euro gold fell to about €968, platinum gained $4 to $1468, and copper climbed a couple of cents to about $3.16.
Gold and silver equities waffled near unchanged for most of the morning before they rose to see over 1% gains by early afternoon and then fell back off again, but they still ended with decent gains on the day.

Oil found slight gains after the Energy Information Administration reported that crude inventories rose 1.7 million barrels, gasoline inventories rose 700,000 barrels, and distillates rose 1.2 million barrels.
The U.S. dollar index fell on worse than expected economic data that sent treasuries higher.
The Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P rose on hopes for better economic data going forward.
Among the big names making news in the market today were Aereo, GM, Boeing, Monsanto, Barnes & Noble, CIT, and General Mills.
