Gold dropped $34.39 to $1303.31 at about 9:30AM EST before it stabilized, but it still ended with a loss of 2.32%. Silver slipped to as low as $20.849 and ended with a loss of 2.38%.
Euro gold fell to about €959, platinum lost $23 to $1485, and copper fell a couple of cents to about $3.25.
Gold and silver equities fell over 2% at the open and remained near that level for the rest of the day.
There were no major economic reports today. Tomorrow brings testimony from fed chair Yellen, Retail Sales, Empire Manufacturing, Import and Export Prices, and Business Inventories.

Oil waffled near unchanged along with the U.S. dollar index ahead of this week’s economic data.
Treasuries fell as the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P climbed higher on takeover activity and earnings results.
Among the big names making news in the market today were Mylan, Citigroup, Aecom and URS, Lindt and Russell Stover, and Volkswagen.
