Gold saw slight gains in Asia and London before it rose to $1303.62 at about 10:45AM EST and then fell back off into the close, but it still ended with a gain of 0.34%. Silver rose to as high as $20.825 and ended with a gain of 0.19%.
Euro gold rose to about €960, platinum remained at $1478, and copper fell 4 cents to about $3.21.
Gold and silver equities rose over 2% by early afternoon before they fell back off a bit, but they still ended with over 1.5% gains.

Oil rose after the Energy Information Administration reported that crude inventories fell 7.5 million barrels, gasoline inventories rose 200,000 barrels, and distillates rose 2.5 million barrels.
The U.S. dollar index continued higher on Yellen’s reiteration that interest rates could rise if economic data comes in better than expected.
Treasuries turned slightly higher after this morning’s round of mixed economic data.
The Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P rose on deal making news and earnings reports.
Among the big names making news in the market today were U.S. Bancorp, Time Warner, BofA, BlackRock, Boeing, and AIG.
