The Metals:
Gold dropped $17.85 to $1273.25 by early afternoon in New York before it bounced back higher in the last few hours of trade, but it still ended with a loss of 1.07%. Silver slipped to as low as $19.32 in late Asian trade, but it then rallied back higher into the close and ended with a loss of just 0.15%.
Euro gold fell to about €962, platinum lost $7 to $1416, and copper remained at about $3.18.
Gold and silver equities fell about 2.5% by midday before they edged back higher in late trade, but they still ended with about 2% losses.

There are no major economic reports due out tomorrow, but there will likely be some news coming out of the fed’s meeting in Jackson Hole.
The Markets:

Oil rose on better than expected economic data that raised demand expectations.
The U.S. dollar fell and treasuries rose ahead of Yellen’s speech in Jackson Hole tomorrow.
The Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P traded mostly higher on optimism about the economy.
Among the big names making news in the market today were BofA, Dollar Tree, Sears, Family Dollar, Dollar General, Ford, and UPS.
