The Metals:
Gold fell $12.62 to as low as $1243.88 by early afternoon in New York before it bounced back higher into the close, but it still ended with a loss of 0.52%. Silver slipped to as low as $18.893 and ended with a loss of 0.58%.
Euro gold fell to about €968, platinum lost $4 to $1379, and copper remained at about $3.11.
Gold and silver equities fell about 2% by midday and remained near that level for the rest of the day.

Oil fell on OPEC’s outlook for lower demand next year.
The U.S. dollar remained firm on expectations for higher interest rates that sent treasuries lower. Today’s $21 billion 10-year note auction sold at yield of 2.535% with a bid to cover of 2.71.
The Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P reversed early losses and ended with modest gains on decent company news.
Among the big names making news in the market today were MasterCard, RadioShack, Home Depot, NPS, Dollar General and Family Dollar, Philip Morris, Sprint, Tesla, and Kroger.
