Gold dropped about 1% in London before it bounced back towards unchanged in late morning New York trade, but it then fell back off into the close and ended near its late session low of $1190.67 with a loss of 2.49%. Silver slipped to as low as $16.122 and ended with a loss of 5.12%.
Euro gold fell to about €959, platinum lost $21 to $1205, and copper fell 4 cents to about $2.89.
Gold and silver equities fell throughout most of trade and ended with about 7% losses.

Oil fell another 3% on OPEC’s continued pledge to maintain current production levels.
The U.S. dollar edged higher on decent economic data that sent treasuries modestly lower.
The Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P erased notable early gains and followed the oil market down, but losses in equities were not as severe as seen at the end of last week.
Among the big names making news in the market today were PetSmart, American Realty Capital, Riverbed Technology, and Sony.
