The Metals:
Gold gained $6.98 to $1201.98 in Asia and held near unchanged in London, but it then fell back off for most of trade in New York and ended with a loss of 1.86%. Silver slipped to as low as $15.533 and ended with a loss of 2.43%.
Euro gold fell to about €959, platinum lost $19 to $1176, and copper fell slightly to about $2.88.
Gold and silver equities dropped throughout most of trade and ended with about 6% losses.

Oil fell another 3% after “Saudi Energy Minister Ali al-Naimi said the Persian Gulf nation will maintain its oil production and may even increase it if a new client emerges.”
The U.S. dollar rose as the yen fell on reduced haven demand.
Treasuries traded mixed after today’s $27 billion 2-year note auction sold at a yield of 0.703% with a bid to cover 3.21.
The Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P rose on optimism about the US economy.
Among the big names making news in the market today were Boeing, American Apparel, and Caesars.
