The Metals:
Gold dropped down to $1180.49 at about 2PM EST before it bounced back higher in the last couple of hours of trade, but it still ended with a loss of 1.35%. Silver slipped to as low as $15.556 and ended with a loss of 3.57%.
Euro gold fell to about €977, platinum lost $10 to $1204, and copper fell a few cents to about $2.83.
Gold and silver equities saw slight losses for most of the morning, but they then edged back higher in afternoon trade and ended near unchanged on the day.

Oil fell after the Energy Information Association reported that crude inventories fell 1.75 million barrels and gasoline inventories rose 2.95 million barrels.
The U.S. dollar capped off its best year since 2005 with a modest gain.
Treasuries rose as the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P erased early gains and ended about 1% lower on worries about the oil market.
Among the big names making news in the market today were Boeing, Ambac, Sony, Apple, and Morgan Stanley.
