Gold climbed to as high as $1221.37 by early afternoon in New York and ended with a gain of 1.09%. Silver rose to as high as $16.565 and ended with a gain of 0.92%.
Euro gold rose to about €1031, platinum gained $14 to $1228, and copper fell slightly to about $$2.76.
Gold and silver equities gained about 4% in the first hour of trade and remained near that level for the rest of the day.
The BLS net birth/death adjustment subtracted 20,000 payrolls from December’s data. Private Payrolls rose 240,000.

Oil fell along with the U.S. dollar index on renewed worries about global growth that sent treasuries higher and the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P lower.
