The Metals:
Gold climbed $11.29 to $1303.99 by a little after 8AM EST before it fell back to $1284.83 in the next few hours of trade, but it then rallied back higher into the close and ended with a gain of 0.06%. Silver rose to as high as $18.427 and ended with a gain of 1.23%.
Euro gold fell to about €1116, platinum lost $9 to $1270, and copper climbed a penny to about $2.60.
Gold and silver equities fell as much as 3% in the first hour of trade, but they then bounced back higher for most of the rest the day and ended with only about 1% losses.
