Gold fell $13.73 to $1279.77 in London, but it then jumped to as high as $1306.40 in New York and ended with a gain of 0.79%. Silver surged to as high as $18.471 and ended with a gain of 1.27%.
Euro gold rose to about €1148, platinum gained $10 to $1280, and copper fell a couple of cents to about $2.58.
Gold and silver equities waffled near unchanged and ended slightly lower.

Oil fell after the Energy Information Administration reported that crude inventories rose 10.1 million barrels, gasoline inventories fell 588,000 barrels, and distillates fell 3.27 million barrels.
The U.S. dollar rose as the euro dropped after the European Central Bank expanded its bond-buying program to include government bonds and announced a larger size and duration of the program than expected.

Treasuries fell as the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P climbed higher on hopes that Europe’s economy will improve.
