The Metals:
Gold dropped $32.79 to $1252.11 by early afternoon in New York before it bounced back higher into the close, but it still ended with a loss of 2.13%. Silver slipped to as low as $16.739 and ended with a loss of 5.78%.
Euro gold fell to about €1111, platinum lost $35 to $1217, and copper fell slightly to about $2.45.
Gold and silver equities fell over 3% by late morning before they rallied back higher in the last couple of hours of trade, but they still ended with almost 2% losses.

Oil reversed early losses and ended with a small gain as the market rebounded from yesterday’s near 4% loss.
The U.S. dollar ended slightly higher in mixed trade.
Treasuries fell as the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P rose to find decent gains in afternoon trade on hopes that the oil market is stabilizing.
Among the big names making news in the market today were Conoco, Alibaba, Time Warner Cable, Dow Chemical, Ford, McDonald’s, Blackstone, and Coach.
