The Metals:
Gold climbed $10.83 to $1272.03 by a little after 10AM EST before dropped back to almost unchanged in the next half hour of trade, but it then rallied back higher in afternoon trade and ended with a gain of 0.33%. Silver rose to as high as $17.652 and ended with a gain of 0.46%.
Euro gold rose to about €1110, platinum gained $6 to $1237, and copper remained at about $2.59.
Gold and silver equities climbed higher in afternoon trade and ended with almost 1.5% gains.

Oil fell almost 9% after the Energy Information Administration reported that crude inventories rose 6.3 million barrels, gasoline inventories rose 2.3 million barrels, and distillates rose 1.8 million barrels.
The U.S. dollar climbed higher as the euro dropped on renewed worries about Greek debt.
Treasuries traded mixed as the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P waffled near unchanged on varied economic data and earnings reports.
Among the big names making news in the market today were Ralph Lauren, Staples, GM, Sony, and Toyota.
