The Metals:
Gold saw decent gains in Asia before it fell back to $1256.76 by late morning in New York, but it then bounced back higher in afternoon trade and ended with a gain of 0.39%. Silver slipped to as low as $16.929 and ended with a loss of 0.35%.
Euro gold fell to about €1103, platinum gained $14 to $1251, and copper remained at about $2.59.
Gold and silver equities waffled near unchanged for most of the morning, but they then climbed higher in afternoon trade and ended with about 1% gains.

Oil climbed over 4% on worries about increasing violence in Libya.
The U.S. dollar fell notably as the euro rose on speculation over moves by the Swiss National Bank.
Treasuries fell on easing worries over Greece that sent the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P about 1% higher.
Among the big names making news in the market today were Pfizer, Ford, and Philip Morris.
