The Metals:
Gold climbed $7.94 to $1243.64 at about 5:30AM EST before it fell back to $1236.20 in the next three and half hours of trade, but it then rallied back higher into the close and ended with a gain of 0.41%. Silver rose to as high as $17.167 and ended with a gain of 1.67%.
Euro gold climbed over €1095, platinum lost $5 to $1215, and copper remained at about $2.59.
Gold and silver equities rose over 1% in the first hour of trade and remained near that level for the rest of the day.
The Economy:

Tomorrow brings Wholesale Inventories for December expected at 0.2%.

Oil climbed higher after OPEC increased its demand forecast.
The U.S. dollar fell as the yen rose on worries about Greece that sent the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P lower.
Treasuries ended near unchanged in mixed trade.
Among the big names making news in the market today were HSBC, GM, and McDonald’s.
