Gold gained $8.56 to $1163.76 in Asia before it fell back to $1150.49 in late morning New York trade, but it then bounced back higher into the close and ended with a loss of just 0.026%. Silver rose to as high as $15.778 before it dropped back to $15.514, but it still ended with a gain of 0.51%.
Euro gold fell to about €1092, platinum lost $9 to $1104, and copper remained at about $2.67.
Gold and silver equities traded about 1% lower for most of the morning, but they then edged back higher in afternoon trade and ended near unchanged.

“Brent oil fell about 3 percent on Monday and U.S. crude hit six-year lows on signs of higher output in the United States and Libya and a possible nuclear deal that could end sanctions for Iran, allowing more of its oil into the market.”
The U.S. dollar fell as the euro bounced back from last week’s 12-year low ahead of this Wednesday’s fed announcement.
Treasuries rose on speculation that recent weak economic data will keep the fed in a dovish mindset.
The Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P followed European equities higher on hopes for continued easy monetary policy around the world.
Among the big names making news in the market today were Procter & Gamble, Life Time Fitness, and Valeant.
