The Metals:
Gold held near unchanged in Asia and London before it dropped down to $1142.69 in early New York trade and then spiked back up to $1158.91 by a little before 10AM EST, but it then drifted back lower into the close and ended with a loss of 0.55%. Silver slipped to as low as $15.392 before it bounced back to $15.725, but it too drifted back lower in the last 6 hours of trade and ended with a loss of 0.58%.
Euro gold fell to about €1084, platinum lost $11 to $1093, and copper fell a few cents to about $2.64.
Gold and silver equities dropped about 2% at the open before they rallied to see slight gains about a half hour into trade, but they then fell to see about 1% losses by midmorning and remained near that level for the rest of the day.

Oil fell about 1% more ahead of tomorrow’s likely supply build.
The U.S. dollar dropped on poor housing data that sent treasuries higher and the Dow and S&P lower ahead of tomorrow’s fed announcement.
Among the big names making news in the market today were Citigroup, Adidas, McDonald’s, and Apple.
