The Metals:

 

Gold dropped $6.79 to $1178.71 in Asia before it rallied back to $1190.56 in late morning New York trade and then fell back off into midday, but it then bounced back higher in the last couple of hours of trade and ended with a loss of just 0.11%.  Silver rose to as high as $16.84 before it also fell back off, but it ended with a loss of just 0.36%.

 

Euro gold rose to about €1101, platinum gained $23 to $1140, and copper fell 4 cents to about $2.74.

 

Gold and silver equities saw slight gains in the first 90 minutes of trade, but they then fell back off for most of the rest of the day and ended with about 1.5% losses.

Oil fell over 2% on hopes for a successful resolution for a nuclear deal with Iran.

 

The U.S. dollar rose as the euro dropped on continued worries about Greece.

 

Treasuries saw decent gains as the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P dropped about 1% by the close on uncertainty about upcoming earnings and economic reports.

 

Among the big names making news in the market today were Charter, Comcast, and Cablevision.
