The Metals:
Gold dropped $16.53 to $1183.17 at about 8:30AM EST before it bounced back towards $1200 by late morning in New York, but it then drifted back lower into the close and ended with a loss of 0.6%. Silver slipped to as low as $15.999 and ended with a loss of 0.61%.
Euro gold fell to about €1120, platinum lost $2 to $1149, and copper fell slightly to about $2.70.
Gold and silver equities rose about 2% by midmorning before they fell back off at times, but they still ended with about 1% gains.

The U.S. dollar fell on poor economic data that sent treasuries higher.
The Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P traded mixed on uncertainty about earnings reports.
