The Metals:
Gold waffled between $1207.53 and $1199.99 in early Asian trade before it edged up to $1208.89 at about 4AM EST and then dropped back to as low as $1195.54 by late morning in New York, but it then drifted back higher in early afternoon trade and ended with a loss of just 0.29%. Silver slipped to as low as $16.178 and ended with a loss 0.18%.
Euro gold fell to about €1113, platinum lost $3 to $1157, and copper climbed 5 cents to about $2.77.
Gold and silver equities saw over 1% gains in the first half hour of trade before they fell to see almost 2% losses by midmorning and then bounced back higher, but they still ended with about 1% losses.

Oil pared yesterday’s notable gains in early trade, but it then climbed back higher in late trade and ended with a modest gain after OPEC forecasted higher demand.
The U.S. dollar fell on mostly poor economic data.
Treasuries edged lower on fed speak.
The Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P traded mostly slightly lower on mixed earnings reports.
Among the big names making news in the market today were Etsy, Netflix, BlackRock, Blackstone, BP, Citigroup, and Goldman Sachs.
