The Metals:
Gold edged up to $1197.03 in Asia before it fell back to $1188.49 in London and then rose to a new session high of $1197.34 in early New York trade, but it then drifted back lower into midday and ended with a loss of 0.1%. Silver slipped to a low as $16.39 and ended with a loss of 0.24%.
Euro gold fell to about €1050, platinum lost $3 to $1140, and copper remained at about $2.93.
Gold and silver equities fell back off for most of trade and ended with almost 3% losses.

Oil remained higher after the Energy Information Administration reported that crude inventories fell 3.9 million barrels, gasoline inventories rose 400,000 barrels, and distillates rose 1.5 million barrels.
The U.S. dollar fell on poor jobs data.

The Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P fell on worries about poor economic data and rising interest rates.
