The Metals:
Gold gained $13.38 to $1196.78 by a little after 6AM EST before it chopped back lower at times, but it still ended with a gain of 0.83%. Silver surged to as high as $16.596 and ended with a gain of 1.6%.
Euro gold rose to about €1064, platinum gained $4 to $1128, and copper climbed a couple of cents to about $2.92.
Gold and silver equities rose over 1% by late morning and remained near that level for the rest of the day.

Oil rose and the U.S. dollar dropped as the euro climbed higher on news that Greece avoided default by repaying 750 million euros to the IMF, but uncertainty remains as Reuters reported that those funds came from an emergency IMF holding account.

German bund yields climb, lift euro; stocks decline Reuters
Treasuries erased early losses and ended modestly higher after today’s $24 billion three-year note auction sold at a yield of 1.00% with a bid to cover of 3.34.
The Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P traded mostly lower on worries about the global bond market.
Among the big names making news in the market today were ITT Educational Services, Verizon and AOL, and Shell.
